Mediation Meditation

Well, it looks like the mediation for my divorce is set for the third week of August. I am not entirely sure how the entire process will go, but I do have a general idea about the give and take process involved.

Mediation as a rule
Can be a very useful tool
To solve the conflict between two
Who need to start their lives anew

The mediator does the dance
As each contender takes a chance
Give a little, get something back
Each one tries to fill their sack

Back and forth the verbiage goes
While each contender tells their woes
Somehow before the session 's done
No one is sure who 's really won

I am hopeful that we can resolve most of our issues during one session... the main thing we are in disagreement about is the alimony. There are some other issues, but those I think can be easily resolved. The alimony will be the sticky wicket. Time will tell. Some of you may have been through this before... any suggestions?

Not me, but my youngest son has. He and his ex never did sit together at the same time for mediation.
Once they were both there, but she left rather quickly.
It all depends on how sticky the lawyers are to see how good it goes.
His ex also had an accountant that had troubles understanding his lay figures.
Mostly things worked out just like the lawyers had planned.
I hope yours works out good for you, and quickly.

P.S. I like your poem. It sounds like you are doing good groundwork. And a good understanding of the process.
Again, best wishes.

We sat down to mediate
To ease the road to success
But found he was a candidate
To become a social abcess.

The mediator conjoled and pleaded
To bring us to a mutual conclusion
But the jerk's propriety receded
So I gave him a cranial contusion.

good luck with the mediation.

When you have attorneys involved, you will be frustrated beyond your limits, and logic will play absolutely no role.
I hope you have the best of the scoundrels on your side.
