It Is Much More Fun Than I Thought...

One of my favorite things about blogging lately has been my searches for rodents to illustrate my posts. It is so much fun that I can spend hours playing with search engines looking for new pictures! I actually have over 1500 stashed in a file to use with my posts! Sometimes when I am looking for an inspiration for a post, I just go through the pictures to come up with some ideas. Then there are the pictures that I can't wait for an opportunity to use... like the smoking rat.

People have sent me pictures via email to use with my posts and there are some really great ones that have been sent. I even have a mouse with an automatic weapon that was sent! Several sites have been the biggest windfalls for rodent pictures. For actual photographs, which I really enjoy, I have found that research sites and The Dapper Rat are the best sources. For drawings, I love the House Mouse Designs. I spend a lot of time laughing out loud when I am searching for these illustrations!

Most of the pictures I use probably have some sort of copyright or need permission for use, but can be used for non-commercial applications with limited use. I try to use those pictures only once. I have some others that can be used for whatever.

I have always thought that mice were cute, but when I started out with this blogsite, I had a slight aversion to rats. Since I have spent so much time searching sites that featured rats, I have learned a lot about them. They are short-lived (which I knew), they are very smart, they come in zillions of types, and people who love and own rats really have a great sense of humor! I have also decided that my favorite "ratty look" is the look sported by the Dumbo types... their ears are set low, and they are quite comical when caught in a photograph. The babies are adorable. I like them so much that, if I didn't have cats, I'd be tempted to get a couple!

So, I hope you continue to enjoy the illustrations I use for my posts. And I hope that they make you laugh as much as I have laughed over them!

Gotta Love 'Em!

Now I'm not sure what's more magical: the pictures, or the stories behind them.

Thanks for giving us all a glimpse. What a refreshing way to keep us intrigued.

Let's put this to a vote.
For those of us who are not fans of rodents, how's about starting a new blog without the little varmits. Just a thought,,

Now Cliff, you know that I only post CLEAN rodents. I'm sure they are no relation to the pesky, unkempt critters that you might find on a farm or in the alleys of our cities!

I do exactly the same thing for my duck pictures. People also E-mail me pictures. So on my surfing journeys if I see any rohodents I will send you them.

Congratulations You Won The Picture Competition.

I was wondering where all those pictures came from! Those Dumbo ears are hilarious.

I don't know what your reality used to be, but I suspect you are starting to get rather warped with these rodents! Maybe you were Mary Poppins' demented sister in a previous life.

From the dark side (I know a little about rats, too, doncha know),

I love the mice and the pictures you post! I have to say the one today is especially thought provoking. There has to be some wise caption that goes under that one. :)
